Nurse
Practitioner
Sheila Graysmark RGN DipPP BSc(Hons) Community Nurse
Practitioner, Independent Nurse Prescriber
I have trained and worked locally for 30 years,
starting my career at the old Cuckfield Hospital,
subsequently working at the Princess Royal Hospital. I
moved into a community nurse role in 1994, soon after
becoming a Practice at Cuckfield in 1995.
In 2003 I completed my Nurse Practitioner degree and
have enjoyed the extended role this has allowed me to
do, running minor ailment surgeries alongside the GPs.
This includes taking a full medical history, conducting
physical examination, requesting diagnostic procedures
and diagnosing. In 2004 I gained my non-medical
prescribing qualification and can now also prescribe
where appropriate.
I have continued my role in chronic disease management,
especially diabetes, asthma and COPD. I am team leader
of the nursing team and co-ordinate the nursing service
in the surgery. As Nurse Practitioner I am involved in
ongoing evaluation of care given in the surgery through
the use of audit and the planning and organisation of
future nursing services.

school nurses.

Administrative and Reception Staff
We depend upon our Practice Manager to organise the
administration of the office and the smooth running of
the practice as a whole. Assisting the Practice Manager
we have a Reception Manager who supervises 13 part time
staff who are responsible for manning the telephones,
typing letters, entering the data onto the computer and
liaising between patients and clinicians. Receptionists
have a difficult and demanding job to do but are here to
help you.
Please note that all the practice staff are bound by
strict rules of confidentiality.
