Tasnia Ali

Physician Associate.

I have been medically trained to be a generalist healthcare professional that works in collaboration with a GP who is also my supervisor. My background is a 3-year Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science followed by a 2-year intensive postgraduate master’s level course in medical science and clinical reasoning with over 1400 hours of clinical placement experience. Following successful completion of university exams I qualified as a physician associate after passing national exams set by the Royal College of Physicians Faculty of Physician Associates. To gain further clinical experience I am currently doing a supervised preceptorship year at Cuckfield Medical Practice where I work alongside GPs to provide medical care as part of the multidisciplinary team.

As physician associate I am trained to perform a number of roles, working alongside GP’s, which include

  • taking medical histories,
  • performing examinations,
  • analyzing test results
  • diagnosing conditions,
  • Developing management plans
  • Health promotion and disease prevention advice for patients
  • Making referrals
  • Undertaking nursing, residential and home visits
